Sundays, 11:00 AM
Each Sunday’s worship bulletin contains the complete order of worship as well as all the words for congregational responses. However, here are a few comments about our worship service you may find helpful:
The version of the Lord’s Prayer that we use includes the terms “debts” and “debtors” instead of “trespasses” and “those who trespass against us”, used by most other churches.
In our celebration of the Lord’s Supper, unless otherwise specified, each person partakes of the elements as soon as he or she is served.
Our worship service always includes a statement of faith. Typically, the one we use is “The Apostles Creed”. This ancient confession of faith began to be used in a time when most Christians were illiterate. Oral repetition of this Creed, along with the Lord’s Prayer and the Ten Commandments, helped preserve and transmit the faith. We still use it today because it includes so much of what we believe about God, Jesus Christ, and the Holy Spirit.
Our worship usually includes the ritual called “Passing of the Peace”. This ritual, which has been used for centuries, helps Christians to greet each other in a way that both celebrates the newness of life that Christ brings to each of us, and expresses thanks for the forgiveness of our sins.
